The Wee Two: Ten Months

2

The Wee Two is ten months old as of Jan. 3rd and you know what that means, it's time to start planning his first birthday party!  Yay!  In bittersweet news, my baby is looking less and less like a baby every day and more like a big boy toddler, especially with his new haircut.  SO handsome! The Wee Two is starting to stand for longer periods of time and hold on to things while taking a step or two.  He can crawl up and down the three stairs into our great room which is awesome, and he so Read more [...]

It’s OK to Feel Uncomfortable

1

It's OK to feel uncomfortable.  Your feelings might get hurt.  You might regret how you voted.  You might feel like your vote didn't matter.  You might feel like you didn't do enough.  And that's OK.  This past election has been eye-opening for me.  I went through so many stages and feelings and to be honest, I'm still processing everything that happened.  I've experienced anger, sadness, guilt, bewilderment, and sorrow.  As a writer, it's cathartic for me to write things out, so if you Read more [...]

Hi Everyone, I’m Still Here and Have Lots to Say!

I'm going to be real with you guys.  I miss this space.  I miss the freedom to write about whatever, over-share on details, and post a billion pictures of my boys.  It feels weird to let Drama Happens get so quiet but it's been the right choice for me.  I've been blogging at Hellobee pretty regularly which has been really fun, rewarding, and sometimes challenging but in a positive way.  I'm also struggling to find the energy to write more than an update or two a month because I'm so tired and Read more [...]

The Wee Two: Nine Months

0

My adorable Wee Two, you are the cuddliest, squishiest, silliest little guy and we love seeing more of your personality emerge day after day.  That said, could you please, pretty please, sleep more at night??  (Sigh.)  We're in a huge sleep regression right now and while we're hopefully near the end of it, The Wee Two's ability to sleep through the night has gone away this past month.  This means more sleep training unfortunately.  It all makes sense due to the major cognitive and physical Read more [...]

The Wee Two: Eight Months

6

The Wee Two is eight months old???  WHAT?!?!  He is growing up way too fast.  Life definitely goes by quicker with a baby when it's your second time around but it's especially fast when your baby starts off at 9 lbs and soars through all sizes and milestones. The Wee Two had a great month!  He discovered how much he loves yogurt and puffs, but we're still working on not gagging on oatmeal.  He has figured out how to make sound while blowing raspberries and is starting to babble while playing Read more [...]

Halloween 2016, Chugga-Chugga Choo-Choo!!

0

You know how you spend weeks making a costume for your two-year old and then they don't want to wear it?  Me neither.  Mostly because I didn't make the costume, The Scottish did, hehe.  But I did drag the costume to music class only for him to tell me, "No thank you, no thank you" over and over again. I get it.  It's a bit awkward and scary to wear a box but seriously he LOVES it.  He pushes it around the house and talks about how it's HIS train. What am I talking about?  The Wee One's Read more [...]

The Wee Two: Seven Months

2

It's official!  The Wee Two (seven months old on Oct. 3rd) is sleeping through the night (for the most part) and he is night-weaned!  This is a huge accomplishment after six months of waking every couple of hours and The Scottish and I have been enjoying sleep for over a month now (since we started the same night of his six month well check-up).  He does wake up once in a while around 3 or 4 AM but overall sleep training has completely changed our night times.  I recently wrote a post for Hellobee Read more [...]

My Fall Wish List

4

It was my birthday last week!  I turned 33 and had zero negative feelings about it.  It's become tradition for my whole family to go apple picking at an orchard every fall and since I'm the only one with a fall birthday, I get to claim it as a birthday excursion!  I also got my special day from The Scottish where I escape go to the coffee shop alone, I don't have to plan or make any meals, and we do a family activity like the zoo or a walk.  This year we attempted to walk around Lake Nokomis Read more [...]

A House Divided

8

It's football season and that's a big deal in our household.  It makes sense that I'm a Vikings fan since I grew up in Minnesota and it makes sense that The Scottish is a Bears fan because when he first came to the US he lived in Chicago.  It doesn't matter how long he lives here either, The Scottish will always be a Bears because you do not desert your team! For now we're teaching the boys to say "Go Vikings!" AND "Go Bears!"  But I'm curious to see if they'll always root for both teams or Read more [...]

The Wee Two: Six Months

1

Happy half year Wee Two!!  I can't believe my baby is six months old!!  Where to begin? This past August was a bit of a roller coaster.  Our trip to Chicago was awesome but The Wee Two did not sleep well at all.  Travel was quickly followed illness and teething.  The Wee One had one tiny, itty bitty cold by six months, and The poor Wee Two has already had three.  Second child problems! We tried oatmeal this month and it was not very successful.  The Wee Two didn't seem to enjoy it and Read more [...]
