Now that I’ve bombarded you all with an insane amount of bump pics, let’s talk about home renovations.  As someone who reads home blogs purely for inspiration and to admire other people’s work, it makes sense that I won’t be a blogger who gives step by step instructions, and NOT just because I don’t do much of the renovations myself.  🙂  But because those are the parts I usually scroll past.  Plus I’m willing to bet no one reads my relationship blog for the home improvement projects, amirite?? So I was going to have a house update for today but then my professional photos arrived from the amazing Jennifer Jackson and I just couldn’t wait to share them with you guys! We had a lovely time in Chicago the first weekend of May, which you can read about here, and part of that trip included our maternity photo session with the talents of Jennography.  Why book our shoot in Chicago when we now live in the Twin Cities?  Good question. The answer is three-fold. 1) We wanted to work with Read more […]

Happy Memorial Day everyone!  Most of you probably won’t be reading blogs today, you’ll be outside grilling or swimming or gardening, as you should be.  We are still plugging away over here at Home Improvement Central, but the blog must go on regardless! Do you know how there’s that book going around about the five love languages?  Well I tried to read it once a long time ago but never got through it.  The author has some pretty good points about how its important to know your partner’s love Read more […]

First off, I want to thank you all for your kind words after Monday’s post (even if you didn’t comment but you thought kind words, I’m still thanking you!), it made me feel so much better and a lot less cuckoo crazy.  🙂 The Scottish and I are slowly accomplishing things on our to-do list and I know we’ll get to a comfortable point soon.  We’re looking forward to a three-day weekend of house projects because there just aren’t enough hours in the day.  Next weekend is my MN shower and we’ll Read more […]

Bump Around

The title of this post should be sung to the tune of “Jump Around” by House of Pain (obvs).  We’re officially in the third trimester people, and it’s getting really REAL over here in PreggoLand.  The glow and agility (did I ever have that?) of the second trimester is gone, and the fatigue and back pain have settled in to stay. Since I’ve already recapped my lovely shower, I’ll just say that the amount of relief that washed over me after my OB’s nurse told me I had passed my gestational Read more […]

before and after painting two before and after painting two

Hi everybody!!  Did you miss me?!?!?  Just lie to me and say yes. I need that right now.  I’ve missed you all terribly and I have so much to share with you guys but this first post of the week is going to be a bit of a brain dump because man, my brain is FULL. I’m happy to report we are officially moved into our new home and living there full-time.  You’d think after 3.5 months of living with my parents that I’d be gung-ho about getting out but on the contrary, The Mother had to kick us out, Read more […]

They set up the labor room like a stage. All the lights are out, except for one shining spotlight that is pointed right at your hoo-ha. The only people in the room are a couple of nurses, the doc and of course hubby on your right. It wasn’t what I pictured. I know on TV it always shows the husbands holding the wife’s hand but that was my first realization at how fake that is because your hands are COVERED with wires, an annoying IV needle, blood pressure pads, etc. There’s no way he can Read more […]

M sleeping

Things I thought I’d be doing during my maternity leave: keeping the house clean, making breakfast, lunch and dinner, getting dressed every day, going for long walks on our local 5K trail, attending playdates, gardening, reading… Things I have done during my maternity leave: spent inordinate amounts of time attempting to get my daughter to sleep, prevented her from eating the cat hair that has accumulated on the floors, attempted to get to the bottom of Mount Laundry (still hasn’t happened), Read more […]

We closed on our house yesterday, AHHHHH!  It’s our house!  We have a house!  Baby boy has a bedroom and a crib that’s still in its box, but who cares?  We have a home of our own!  It’s so exciting!!!  AHHHHH!! OK, I’m done screaming my happiness at you guys.  Thanks for listening.  If you’ve ever bought a home you know the journey is often filled with many bumps, but luckily our road to home ownership was relatively smooth all things considered. What’s that?  You want to see more Read more […]

We had such a wonderful trip to Chicago this past weekend and I’ve been looking forward to sharing it with you guys.  The Scottish and I usually attempt to fit as much as possible into our two day and this time was no different.  Besides our baby shower and our maternity photo shoot, we spent time with my nanny family, many of our good friends, and lastly our beloved city.  I don’t want to write about it to death but instead I want to share some special moments through photographs.  Like this Read more […]
