We had such a wonderful trip to Chicago this past weekend and I’ve been looking forward to sharing it with you guys. The Scottish and I usually attempt to fit as much as possible into our two day and this time was no different. Besides our baby shower and our maternity photo shoot, we spent time with my nanny family, many of our good friends, and lastly our beloved city. I don’t want to write about it to death but instead I want to share some special moments through photographs. Like this one with Littlest C and I doing our model poses.
And while the weekend was absolutely incredible, I was ready to come home to Minnesota by the time we left on Monday morning. (Translation: we made the right decision for us by moving here.)
Not only do we have our closing to look forward to this week (yay!), but the traffic in Chicago still makes my blood boil and the cost of living is something I’ll never get used to. I’m back to being a Minnesota girl, and that’s OK. If only all my favorite people could just live within a 30 mile radius of me!! I suppose everyone needs to live where they can be the most happy, right? And that is always subject to change.
This city was our joy for so many years. Isn’t it breathtaking?
My Chicago baby shower was this past weekend and it was lovely! My former boss whom I will now refer to as The Nanny Mom here on DH, made all the food FROM SCRATCH. Who does that? Everything was delicious and everyone raved about the treats. She had Scottish empire biscuits and Swedish cinnamon rolls to highlight both of our backgrounds. What a cute idea!
Opening gifts was a ton of fun but I learned that pregnant women do NOT look good sitting down, haha!
I have to say having The Scottish at the shower was pretty awesome too. I know it’s not normal for the guys to take part in these events but he actually enjoyed himself and I thought it was even more special to have him there. He was such a good sport when we asked him to model the adorable diaper bag we received!
The Nanny Mom also had everyone cut a piece of ribbon to guess how round my belly was and there were actually two winners, but most people cut their pieces WAAAY too long. It was pretty funny.
I was so grateful to be able to celebrate with so many of my Chicago friends.
After the shower, we had a relaxing evening of Indian food and a walk by the lake with my nanny family. It was so nice to have time to relax with my sweet kiddos! The Scottish took some beautiful pictures during our walk; this one below features his famous Scottish tilt!
Big C is a BIG fan of parkour. “Hardcore Parkour!” (Name that TV show quote.)
Until next time, Chicago!
(Don’t worry, I will devote an entire post to our maternity photos at a later date!)
How is your week going? Who else loves Chicago?
