The Wee One is a special guy. I know it. The Scottish knows it. But even better, our whole extended family knows it! The Wee One has been so lucky to have met so many of his extended family in the first few weeks of life.
I want to remember these moments. I want them saved on my blog because in my life, there is nothing more important than family. It’s cliché but true, they make the good parts of life better and the bad parts of life easier. In our family, we laugh… a lot. We also cry, bicker, and tease each other, but most of the time we’re happy and laughing. I consider myself extremely blessed to have the family I do.
This post is bursting with pictures, mostly of family members holding my son but also including other adorable shots and some commentary by yours truly.
My immediate family. What can I say? They were at the hospital waiting for this little guy to be born. They finally got to leave around 4:30 AM (after his 3:45 AM birth) so they had to come back and hold him later that same day. I only have pictures of The Mother and The Father for some reason, but my siblings and The BFF came back as well.
A proud and overjoyed new Grandma holds The Wee One for the first time.
An ecstatic and emotional new Grandpa holds The Wee One for the first time.
The Saturday after The Wee One was born many of our extended family members came into town to meet him. It was a special day.
Isn’t he the tiniest celebrity?
Being held by Great Grandma J, who loves having the “great”‘ in front of her name now!
Being held by Great Aunt B, The Mother’s sister, who still can’t believe I’ve had a kid… me either!
Some people look more awkward than others… my cousin was hilarious, wondering how to hold him at first.
The Mother’s brother and his family got their snuggles in too.
I can’t believe he was ever that tiny, he already looks so much bigger now! That’s how he came out of the womb, with his arm up by his face, only it was a bit higher up and he still loves lying like that to this day!
3 of the 4 members of The Nanny Family came to visit at the end of August. They might not be blood related but they are family to us. Here’s Big C, Littlest C, and Nanny Mom holding The Wee One.
Finally, and most recently, everyone on The Mother’s side met up north at a cabin rental to celebrate my Uncle’s birthday. We had a great time playing games, (The Scottish won our Bags/Cornhole tournament), eating, relaxing, and performing our own family variety show. What can I say? We’re a musical and talented group and that’s what my Uncle asked for!
Auntie B and I played our clarinets for the show. It was hard to top us (HA HA) but trust me there were some really good acts. 😉
Ohh, guess who looks more comfortable holding a baby? Good job cuz!
The Wee One enjoyed a nice conversation with his Great Grandma J. I love his alert little faces!
My Uncle also wanted a group photo with each of us holding signs noting our age. Cause why not?
The Scottish and I were directly in the middle… which makes me me feel real old. We also took individual photos. Here’s The Glue’s photo.
And The Wee One’s…
Adorable right? Except for the fact that I’m in it, haha.
Finally, we had to get some individual family group shots. This is my immediate family plus partners, dogs, and one baby with another one the way. Christmas card photo anyone?
Phew, that’s it for now! I’m sure these baby photos posts will taper off at some point (hopefully??) but it’s still so new and I love documenting these moments while they’re fresh in my mind. He’s the first great grandchild in both extended families and the first grandchild in our immediate one. He’s kind of a big deal. Does that remind you of anyone? 🙂
Big hugs to those family and friends who haven’t met The Wee One Yet (located in Scotland, North Dakota, and Chicago mostly); we will see many of you soon!
And because I think this is a lovely photo, The Sister feeding her nephew. Cue the awws!
