Remember on Friday when I said I had news to share this week?  Well, we have a roommate! My cousin (known as Jo here on DH) has moved into the “princess” room in our basement.  I guess we can’t call it that now as all the princess decals have been removed, but it’s still pink and purple. Of course it will be a big adjustment for all of us but family helps each other out when they need it and we were happy to welcome her into our home.  Cousin Jo will be job hunting in the Twin Cities Read more […]

The Wee One: Four Months

Wow.  This has been a FUN month you guys.  Does it sound obnoxious if I say life with The Wee One just keeps getting better and better? He’s been showing off more of his silly and sweet personality this month, and just recently he’s started rocking and rolling around on his own.  We still haven’t had the OFFICIAL tummy to back roll-over that everyone waits for, but we have found him on his tummy once in his crib and just recently, he has decided that side sleeping is his thing. I love seeing what Read more […]

I’m over the moon excited to announce that my little brother is getting married!!  🙂  🙂  He found a really AMAZING girl (who is known around these parts as The Tape) and we’re thrilled that she will be officially joining our family sometime next year The proposal went down last Saturday evening after they attended a play with one of her nieces.  The Glue took her to a special outdoor location underneath a band canopy where her family had set up some candles, he played a song on his guitar, Read more […]

Joining the Baby Sleep Conversation

Baby Sleep.  (Not to be confused with baby napping because that’s a total different entity.)  It’s one of those topics that gets discussed to death on forums and boards and blogs and often in humorous ways.  There is no magic when it comes to baby sleep, there are good sleepers and not so good sleepers.  Yes, there are tools like routines, methods, and training but I firmly believe every baby is different.  And what a lovely thing that is! I am finally ready to talk about The Wee One’s Read more […]

pregnancy timeline two pregnancy timeline two

I woke up at 6 AM, took a test, and saw this: CUE THE FREAKING OUT (and the jumping on The Scottish who was still in bed).  I will never forget that feeling of knowing I was going to be a mother.  It was life-changing in the best possible way. Here are three major milestones in my pregnancy with The Wee One. Bump photos at 4 weeks, 20 weeks, and the day I went into labor, at 39 weeks. WOWZA.  Holy first pregnancy weight gain Batman!  🙂 Now let’s see if The Scottish has changed Read more […]

Mommy smiling at Wee One Mommy smiling at Wee One

I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted a DramaLite, and in case you’re new to these parts, this a series dedicated to laughing at the silly and embarrassing moments in my life. The Wee One is not only adorable but he also has a well-developed humorous side.  Case in point, he giggles at me when I cry.  I WISH I was kidding. It’s happened twice although I’ve yet to get it recorded for proof. The first time was after I cut one of his nails so short that it gushed (ok maybe not gushed) blood. Read more […]

What I’m Whining About These Days

our Christmas set up in KC our Christmas set up in KC

I get REALLY sappy and sentimental around the holidays but I also get a bit depressed when the weather turns cold and it’s dark all evening, so in an effort to shake this funk today, I’m putting the drama back into Drama Happens.  🙂 WINTER HAS ARRIVED.  Noooooooo!!!  For those of you readers living where there are actual seasons, I know you get it!  There is this feeling of ultimate dread and hatred for that first winter storm of the year.  It’s that moment when you can no longer pretend Read more […]

This Is One of Those Feminist Posts That Will Get Taken Out of Context

Sorry for the obnoxious title folks, but people get super obnoxious when it comes to talking about women’s rights and what it means to be a feminist. I have no doubt that someone somewhere will misinterpret what I mean and frankly, I don’t care!!  Haters gonna hate, and idiots will be idiots.  (Is that how it goes Ms. Swift??) This weekend I had a really nice moment. The kind of reassuring moment that reminds you what is important and makes you feel good about where you are and what you’re Read more […]

Flying With a Baby: Three Months

Now that I’m an expert a survivor of traveling with a baby, I thought I’d pass on my insight to the blogosphere for when others find themselves in a similar situation. Wear your maternity jeans.  Yes, sometimes I still wear mat jeans and I’m proud of it.  Comfort is key while traveling and you don’t want  pants that will cut into your gut every time you bend down to pick up a burp cloth or a pacifier.  I figure this is acceptable if you are three months postpartum.  Or forever.  Your Read more […]
