GUYS, I MADE SOMETHING.  I could have bought it off Etsy but for 36 dollars (including shipping) but I decided I could make it for cheaper. Well, it was cheaper.  It’s also uglier.  But hey, I DON’T CARE because I made it myself for my son’s birthday photo shoot and party and it’s going to go beautifully with his birthday onesie.  I had some help with the craft along the way but overall it was my vision and execution.  It is certainly not Pinterest-worthy but I’m damn proud of it. The Wee One: Eleven Months

Wow, The Wee One is becoming such a BIG BOY.  Although he seems to be growing up and less out as he weighs the same as last month (based on our crude scale anyway).  We’ve also received comments that he is thinning out or that his face looks thinner, which has to be because he is constantly moving!  It definitely isn’t because he’s eating less, haha. The Wee One LOVES pointing at things and he’s started waving to people.  He also “gives hugs” which means he lays his head down on Read more […]

Hi guys! I realize I didn’t have a post on Monday, but it was intentional.  I was exhausted after four days of taking care of The Wee One, the dog, and the house by myself.  I didn’t feel much like writing to be honest, but there’s another reason I wasn’t super pumped about posting.  It seems the blogosphere gets extremely quiet over the summer.  Every year my daily views take a hit yet once June comes and every year I am shocked by it.  Well, this year I’m taking it as a sign to blog less Read more […]

Baby Behind Bars

As I’ve mentioned previously, The Wee One’s newest skill is crawling. This is incredibly exciting and in the past few days he’s even started walking (slowly) with a walker.  But this new-found mobility has left me running around the house like a crazy person behind him, trying to prevent injury while still giving him space to explore. Our great room (aka the living room) is quite large and has a lot of what we call, “danger zones.”  Additionally the three stairs into the great room from the Read more […]

Before I move past Grandpa and Grandma Scottish’s visit, I wanted to do one last post to share more of the photos we took while they were here.  We explored fun, albeit touristy places (when the weather was nice enough) and had a great time hanging out at the house.  The last time my in-laws were in Minnesota it was the week of our wedding and we didn’t have time to show them around.  Since we know they’ll be visiting us roughly every year we didn’t cram everything into this one visit.  There Read more […]

Since I have been posting on very specific topics lately and since I was gone for a while, I thought it would be nice to just chat with you guys for a minute. How are you?  I’m doing well although I’m currently on day one of the first of two consecutive solo-parenting weekends.  The Scottish is at my brother’s bachelor party this weekend and he’s the Best Man in our Best Man’s wedding in Scotland next weekend (does that make sense?).  The Wee One and I have big plans to keep busy and hang Read more […]

My Gardening Debut

Before my in-laws visit I shared with you guys our backyard garden in its current state.  Not pretty in the slightest! What we didn’t know was that under the layers of weeds and leaves was really awesome, rich soil, perfect for planting!  My FIL literally cleared it out in one afternoon.  It was impressive. Look at the side by side of what was already cleared and what still needed to be done… A lovely blank canvas… So my MIL and I could turn it into this… It Read more […]

Destroy-It-Yourself: Bye Bye Black Sink

If you own a home you know how projects and renovations usually end up taking longer than expected?  The demise of the black sink was no exception to this rule.  The Scottish, my Dad, and his Dad spent most of a Wednesday working on it.  And when they were done, it was leaking.  Go figure! The leak (surprisingly) went away on its own, but we were left a bigger unfortunate problem.  I’ll get to that later. All in all, this was an inexpensive and COMPLETELY worthwhile project.  The sink Read more […]
