Hi everybody, Happy Monday!
I’m still not feeling 100% myself in regards to weaning but I would say I’m starting to think a bit more positively. Distraction is working well most of the time, but some mornings The Wee One sobs and pulls on my shirt and that just breaks my heart into a million pieces. The Scottish is always nearby to help and he keeps reminding me that I have to think of what I’m gaining with The Wee One instead of what I’m losing Easier said than done, but I’m working on it. Thanks to reader Erin for sharing this great post by Cup of Jo, it made me feel less alone. And luckily, I had a great weekend which helped lift my spirits a lot.
With The Wee One walking, he’s at the perfect age to start exploring! Last year around this time we took him to his first apple orchard but it was FREEZING and he was 2 months old so he slept most of the time we were there.
But now as a toddler he’s busy, he’s silly and cute, and he’s pursuing his independence all the time. He’s also starting to have mini meltdowns and frequently wakes up from naps in emotionally charged crying fits. But you take the good with the bad!
This weekend was fantastic, we visited Emma Krumbee’s apple orchard and MN’s Largest Candy store on Saturday with The Cuz Man, his parents, and Grandma and Grandpa MN. Then we celebrated The Cuz Man’s baptism on Sunday complete with a grill-out and a special family assisted baseball helmet photo. (Which reminds me, I need to share the newest pics in that series!)
This weekend also solidified that our child LOVES his routines and when he doesn’t get his naps at home, in a crib, he can be one crabby bear. On Saturday night he must have been overtired because he woke up at 1:30 and 2:30 AM, yuck! It’s especially hard because he has been sleeping through the night for months and because we know we’ll be back to many night-time wake-ups once the new baby arrives. #notready
But let’s focus on the super sweetness that is The Wee One’s first time picking apples.
Baby #2 is the size of a small apple…
JUST KIDDING! I have no idea what fruit or vegetable baby currently resembles. 🙂
Lift with your legs!
Of course we took posed family photos with the cousins in matching shirts. Unfortunately for them, this is only the beginning. Hehehe.

I’m pretty excited about this upcoming month of October. First of all my birthday is on the 4th (whoo-hoo 32). Secondly, we are planning a very mini vacation (so mini it’s only one night) for just The Scottish, The Wee One, and I in Duluth, MN. Currently we spend all of The Scottish’s vacation days visiting family or hosting family and I really want one getaway with just the three of us before it becomes the four of us. Details on that if and when it happens. Thirdly, October means Halloween is coming up. The Scottish and I were never big into Halloween in years past but with a kid it suddenly becomes much more exciting. Costumes! Pumpkins! Candy! OH wait, I’m always excited about candy.
Hope your week is awesome and happy pumpkin season!
