Hey everybody!  My birthday was on Sunday so I used it as an excuse to do a whole lot of nothing most of the weekend.  It was really nice to unplug and step away from my computer for a bit.  But I’m back and ready to catch up!  How are you doing?  Anyone else have an October birthday (aka the best month)??

I won’t go over my birthday weekend in great detail but I will share a few things.  The Mother totally spoiled me and I got a new pair of shoes and a new diaper bag!  I’m hoping to review it here once I have tried it out for at least a week.

The Scottish’s gift to me was a new website design for Drama Happens!  Of course this is only phase one and a lot more has to be done before I can update the site but I consider myself very lucky to be married to someone who can help me with the back-end stuff of DH.

My parents came over to watch the little guy on Saturday night so The Scottish and I could have a date night.  We started the night out with a delicious dinner at Outback Steakhouse followed by gambling at our nearest casino.

TANGENT ALERT: I used to gamble more often in high school than I do as an adult.  This shocked my husband, I guess he had trouble picturing me as a regular at the casino.  I reminded him I was a lot of fun back in the day, haha.  We could get in at 18 and my friends and I would go flirt with older guys at the blackjack tables and they’d help us play.  The Scottish used to love playing poker at the casinos when he lived in Australia and 100 dollars would keep him at a table for hours.  He’d drink and gamble the night away with his buddies.

These days our casino visits look a wee bit different.  I literally had to waddle run in because my bladder was so full from lemonade at dinner and I needed a bathroom LIKE NOW.  The Scottish was so concerned about wasting money that we set a 20 dollar limit, ten bucks for each of us.  I spent a lot of time breathing into my scarf because the air was so smoky.  And we didn’t play blackjack or poker, we played penny slots.  Thus, our money was gone in a flash.  I think we were there a total of 30 minutes, haha.  Regardless, it was spontaneous and fun and we had a great time just the two of us.

Sunday was the day I turned 32.  It was also the day I turned 18 weeks pregnant.  I’ve never been pregnant over my birthday before.  Despite feeling extra hormonal and not like myself I still had a great day with my boys.

I also got a haircut!!!  My long stringy hair was always getting tangled and it took forever to blow dry.  While many people in my life prefer me with longer hair, I knew I wanted to cut a few inches off before winter hit while still keeping it at ponytail length.  I’m happy with the change (as we’ve established before this is as drastic a cut as I go) and I love having less tangles after my shower.

BEFORE: (please excuse the crappy phone pics)

long hair

AFTER:

shorter hair

Does this count as a mom haircut??

Well, that’s my update for now! What’s going on in your life?

HAHA love that the scottish was shocked by your old casino days. We should go together sometime, when you’re not pregnant- i know that couldn’t have been fun w/ the smoke. I love your new cut, I’m getting mine done tomorrow. HAPPY BIRTHDAY again!

Sounds like a lovely birthday. The last time we walked through a casino (to get to the steakhouse on the other side… there’s a joke in there somewhere) I couldn’t handle it. We ended up leaving for somewhere else because of all the smoke!
