No, thankfully I am not sick, but The Wee One caught yet another virus recently.  ARGH!  We took him to a pediatrician, and luckily it’s a normal winter cold but the very interesting ped suggested I keep the baby in another week if possible while acknowledging I don’t really have control over that.  (shakes head)

He also told me that April is more ideal for having babies.  Why on earth would you say that to someone who is 38 weeks along?  Let me just go back in my time machine…  And then he told us The Wee One has an abnormal jaw line and we need to get it checked out.  Umm, what?  We told him we’d just been to the dentist in January and there was no mention of his jaw.  The Wee One has a narrow face and a ton of teeth all close together but I’m thinking we don’t have to start worrying about that just yet.

Needless to say, we won’t be requesting that particular pediatrician again.  Why he thought to point out a dental abnormality on a 19 month old is beyond me but really, you just have to laugh it off.

This past Saturday, Feb. 20th was the day I’d chosen to celebrate The Scottish’s birthday (his actual bday is two days before my due date) and regardless of having a baby by then or not, I knew I wouldn’t be up for much.

Unfortunately, we woke up Saturday morning after having slept very little because of our poor sick wee one and ended up at the doctor by 9:30 AM.  Definitely not part of my plan!  The Scottish is a great Dad but everyone needs their alone time and his birthday wish was for some time by himself in our house to relax and play video games.  My plan was to disappear with The Wee One but he was too sad and sick to leave the house and I was too exhausted from a night of not sleeping.  Grandma MN came by to hang out with the little guy so I could rest and The Scottish could get some game time in but it still wasn’t the day I had dreamed up for him.  That’s parenthood for ya, always keeping you on your toes!

I will say that the rest of the weekend wasn’t a total bust.  The Scottish got to play board games with my family (another fave thing of his to do), open a few gifts, see the movie Deadpool with The BIL, and was treated to his favorite dessert, Tres Leches cake, made my yours truly.  His face might not show it but he looks forward to this cake all year long.  🙂

My 38 week appointment went pretty well, I’m up to 2 cm dilated and 60% effaced.  My OB wanted to discuss when I’d be ready for an induction and I said, “Not until after 40 weeks!”  She doesn’t think that will be a problem and that we can wait and see what happens but the size of baby boy is still on her mind I can tell.

38 weeks

I chose a short-sleeved shirt in bright color to inspire an early spring time.  (I wish!)

McKenna had to get in on the fun again too.

And The Wee One was being a Daddy’s boy and had no interest in taking photos with mommy.  He’s trying to escape in the photo where I’m holding him, haha.

Lovely readers, just a heads up, I won’t be around the rest of the week.  These baby updates are all I can manage for now and I’ll definitely be taking a break from DH when baby brother arrives.  The last few weeks of pregnancy are all about survival and when you’ve also got a fun, busy, bossy, temperamental, and sometimes sick toddler, anything extra gets put on the back burner!  Seriously his favorite word these days is “no.”  Lord help us, we are SO entering the tough toddler years.

Anyway, thanks for following along and OF COURSE I’ll try to post a pic or two after he is born, whenever that is! 🙂

I leave you with this amazing photo of The Wee One and The Cuz Man in their unplanned complimentary grandpa sweaters.  I know I’m biased, but they are so adorable together!
