It was my birthday last week!  I turned 33 and had zero negative feelings about it.  It’s become tradition for my whole family to go apple picking at an orchard every fall and since I’m the only one with a fall birthday, I get to claim it as a birthday excursion!  I also got my special day from The Scottish where I escape go to the coffee shop alone, I don’t have to plan or make any meals, and we do a family activity like the zoo or a walk.  This year we attempted to walk around Lake Nokomis but a toddler tantrum meant we had to leave shortly after arriving.  Kids don’t care if it’s your birthday, do they?  🙂

This was my first birthday as a mom of two and while I love being with my boys, I’m really excited to go shopping by myself and spend my birthday money!  My parents and in-laws are very generous and know that I rarely get to buy myself anything so I’m going to try really hard to not use my birthday money to buy stuff for The Wee One and Wee Two.  So far so good!  My first purchase was a pair of Lularoe leggings and an Irma shirt because well, I HAD to give it a try.  People won’t stop talking about it!  The outfit is totally out of my comfort zone but the leggings do feel like butter and I’m sick of wearing solid colored t-shirts from Target, haha.  Maybe I’ll even do an outfit of the day post so you guys can see it too.

Here are a few other things I’m eyeing:

Sperry Shoes: These are the most comfortable everyday shoes I’ve ever owned!  The Mother bought me a pair of these boat shoes last year for my birthday and I wear them all the time.  I have an all tan pair that goes with everything but I’d love another pair in a fun color like pink.

Fossil Cross Body Bag: I need something I can throw my wallet and phone in when I’m leaving the house without a diaper bag and most of my pre-baby purses are huge handbags.  This would be perfect and I love the elegant octagon shape.

IKEA Storage Bench:  OK, technically this is a kid-related item but it would make me SO happy to have my living room free of toys that I consider this a gift to myself.  We have a nice sized living space but no organizational system for the toys so we line them up neatly by the fireplace at the end of the night.  I want a bunch of these bins so I can put them against the back wall under the windows and have a place to store everything when we have company over or just want the toys out of sight.

Ralph Lauren Romance Perfume:  My MIL bought me this a few years ago and it’s become my go-to everyday fragrance (not that I wear perfume everyday).  I really like this scent and mine is almost gone so I could use another bottle.

Ellen DeGeneres Sheets:  I have been in the market for new bed linens for a long time now and I’m obsessed with anything Ellen related, so these ED bed sheets would be perfect.

House plant:  We recently went to a friend’s house, who has two young boys as well, and I was amazed by how lovely and fresh their home looked with multiple live plants.  I would need the easiest possible plant to keep alive, but I feel like it would really brighten up our home.

What’s on your list right now?

I vote for the perfume! And I have a spider plant – it is super low maintenance and it livens up the space w/o too much work

Happy birthday, my (younger) date twin! 🙂 I haven’t decided what I’m using my birthday funds for, but shoes are on my short list, too. 🙂
