The Scottish.  My wonderful husband since March 2013.  He’s a born and raised Scotsmen who came to America in 2009 on a work visa.  He is a tech-loving software designer and his hobbies include watching NFL and making fun of me.  He’s the best person I know.  And yes, the accent is adorable.

The Wee One.  My son, born in July 2014 and the best thing that has happened to me.  I can’t get enough of his sweet baby smell and his adorable smile.

The Sister.  She’s 1.5 years younger than me and looks nothing like me although she’s a beauty.  The Sister teaches 3rd grade and she married The Brother-in-law in June of 2013.  Our relationship requires constant care and even though we spent most of our lives not understanding (read: hating) each other, as adults we’re closer than ever.

The Glue.  My brother.  He’s the coolest person I know but I don’t know many cool people.  He’s a fellow writer like me and a teacher like The Sister and The Mom.  He is The Glue because his humor and positivity hold the family together (or so he likes to think).

The Mother.  She is endlessly selfless and goodhearted which I find super annoying.  I love her and respect her more than I can begin to explain.  She understand me the most.

The Father.  My dad is goofy, fun-loving, and smart.  He used to do my taxes and bought me my first navigation system when I called him crying one too many times after getting lost while living in Chicago.  He loves camping and our family.  Couldn’t ask for more.

The BFF (The Best Friend).  She is a dog-loving business woman and volunteer extraordinaire.  She holds me accountable in all things which only makes our relationship stronger.  We’ve mastered the art of long-distance friendship and we can still make each other laugh.

McKenna.  Our dog.  I checked and she doesn’t mind if I use her real name.  Her hobbies include killing squirrels, cuddling, and being cute.

The City.  Chicago.  She is The Scottish’s and my shared mistress.  The skyline, the people, the pace, it’s all spectacular.  She was home for 7 years. We still hook up often.

Big C and Littlest C.  My nanny kiddos.  They were the ones who taught me about unconditional love and they’re some of my favorite people in the world.

The Brother-in-law. The Sister’s partner in crime.

The Tape.  The Glue’s partner in crime.

The Wee Sis and The Happy Chappie.

And many, many more!  Aunts, Uncles, grandparents, and cousins, I can’t list them all so they’ll known as The Family unless I’m writing more specifically about someone.
