The One Thing I Don’t Want to Give Up

Hi everybody!  Wow, it’s been a while, huh??  Obvious blogger statement coming up in 3, 2, 1… life has been a lot busier recently so I thought it was time for an update. First off, my baby just turned ONE year old on March 3rd!  We celebrated The Wee Two’s birthday by going to the Minnesota zoo as a family and then having a party the following day which also happened to be The Scottish’s birthday.  Needless to say. the entire week before was super hectic and crazy but everything went so Read more […]

It’s OK to Feel Uncomfortable

It’s OK to feel uncomfortable.  Your feelings might get hurt.  You might regret how you voted.  You might feel like your vote didn’t matter.  You might feel like you didn’t do enough.  And that’s OK.  This past election has been eye-opening for me.  I went through so many stages and feelings and to be honest, I’m still processing everything that happened.  I’ve experienced anger, sadness, guilt, bewilderment, and sorrow.  As a writer, it’s cathartic for me to write things out, so if you Read more […]

I’m going to be real with you guys.  I miss this space.  I miss the freedom to write about whatever, over-share on details, and post a billion pictures of my boys.  It feels weird to let Drama Happens get so quiet but it’s been the right choice for me.  I’ve been blogging at Hellobee pretty regularly which has been really fun, rewarding, and sometimes challenging but in a positive way.  I’m also struggling to find the energy to write more than an update or two a month because I’m so tired and Read more […]

My Fall Wish List

Posted by & filed under All About Me, The Home.

It was my birthday last week!  I turned 33 and had zero negative feelings about it.  It’s become tradition for my whole family to go apple picking at an orchard every fall and since I’m the only one with a fall birthday, I get to claim it as a birthday excursion!  I also got my special day from The Scottish where I escape go to the coffee shop alone, I don’t have to plan or make any meals, and we do a family activity like the zoo or a walk.  This year we attempted to walk around Lake Nokomis Read more […]

A House Divided

It’s football season and that’s a big deal in our household.  It makes sense that I’m a Vikings fan since I grew up in Minnesota and it makes sense that The Scottish is a Bears fan because when he first came to the US he lived in Chicago.  It doesn’t matter how long he lives here either, The Scottish will always be a Bears because you do not desert your team! For now we’re teaching the boys to say “Go Vikings!” AND “Go Bears!”  But I’m curious to see if they’ll always root for both teams or Read more […]

Call Me Mrs. Cookie!

Posted by & filed under All About Me, Blogging, Wee Ones.

Hi everybody! Popping in to share some happy news, I was recently accepted to be a contributing blogger for the parenting website, Hellobee! The sweets generation just came out and I was pumped to get my first choice of Mrs.Cookie!  Is there anything tastier than a classic chocolate chip cookie?? Some of my content will be similar to posts on DH but most of it will be brand new.  I’m very excited to be joining another group of talented bloggers and if you’re a fellow parent and have not Read more […]

These Are The Years…

Posted by & filed under All About Me, Heartstrings, Marriage, Motherhood, Partnerships, Relationships General, The Scottish, Wee Ones.

These are the years… of going to bed at 8:30 PM because we’re so crazy exhausted. of rarely being alone together. of nothing in the house for lunch but sandwich bread heels and old fruit. Just enough to keep everyone fed. of wearing the same stained shirts and ripped jeans because any extra money goes to clothing for the boys. of calling each other Mommy and Daddy. of eating out less.  Oh, how we miss eating out. of watching Netflix together instead of talking or connecting Read more […]

Hi friends, how is everyone doing?  We had a wonderful time with The Scottish’s parents the past few weeks and I will share more when I do a photo-filled blog post of their visit. I also need to write The Wee Two’s three month update.  Can you believe it’s already the middle of June!?! But first I have some musings to sort through. Being a parent is hard. OK, duh, right?  A lot of it is frustrating or terrible (up at night with a baby, toddler tantrums) but most of it is sheer bliss.  And Read more […]

It’s Not About the Pillows

couch and blanket couch and blanket

Every day The Wee One pulls the couch pillows and blanket down to the floor.  And every day I put them back on the couch.  This happens roughly 100 times per day.  OK, so it doesn’t happen that often but I will put the couch pillows back, turn around, and The Wee One will be wrestling them to the ground yet again. The little rascal in action, he also likes to throw my burp clothes on the ground.  Grr.   I have to put them back up for two reasons, 1) because I use a pillow Read more […]

The Wee Two: One Month

Soooo, The Wee Two is actually two months old (already? yes!) but obviously I have to post his one month update first!  Let’s rewind to April 3rd. Like I mentioned, the first month with two kiddos was tough.  Just as The Wee One was getting more fun and independent we HAD to throw a newborn into the mix.  🙂  The lack of sleep and busy days made The Wee Two’s first month a bit of a blur but we got into a rhythm and now we can’t imagine our lives any other way than with our two boys. The Read more […]
