FINALLY, right??  It’s about time I share photos of baby boy’s astronomy themed nursery since we’ve been working on it off and on since Thanksgiving. First up, we had to paint the room… again.  When we first moved in we painted it lavender for a tranquil feel to the guest room but I couldn’t picture that for my little guy so we chose another grey (we love grey), in a shade or two darker than The Wee One’s room. We enlisted the help of Grandpa and Grandma MN and finished painting the Read more […]

Don’t Forget: The Time He Climbed Into the Shower With His Clothes On

Posted by & filed under baby updates, Heartstrings, Motherhood, The Wee One.

First off, Happy Birthday to The Cuz Man!  He is one year old today!  We can’t wait for his party this weekend.  Last year there was a snow storm on his day of birth and this year there is one finishing up.  I remember driving back from the hospital in awful traffic and terrible visibility with a screaming 6 month old.  Good times. Speaking of bad winter weather, I was stupid yesterday and drove a bit father than usual to meet my friends at a coffee shop/play area.  We had a great time but Read more […]

The Wee One: 18 Month Update

The Wee One is a year and a half old!  WHOA!! And it’s been a while (six months) since I posted an update about him.  We had his 18 month appointment this past Friday and it went really well!  The Wee One is following his growth tracks and is right where he should be developmentally.  The pediatrician said the hardest age to examine is 18 months but The Wee One was particularly easy.  To her credit, she did a great job of chatting with us first and keeping things very nonchalant.  She Read more […]

To My First Born

Dear Wee One, You won’t remember the 19 months it was you, me, and Daddy, but I will.  You will only know life with a younger brother in it, but I will remember all the moments we had as a family of three, and the days we spent just the two of us. July 22, 2014, you made me a mother with your entrance into this world after a looooong labor and 2.5 hours of pushing.  It was painful but one of the best things to ever happen to me. You were a typical newborn, and those early days Read more […]

A Bump and Back Pain

Wow, it’s been a while since I posted a bump update.  Let’s see, what was going on then… a whole lot of normal pregnancy stuff that’s what.  If I remember correctly, this is when my back pain was at it’s worse.  Right around Thanksgiving, lucky me!  What is it with me and icky holidays this year??  Ugh. But I don’t want to talk about the bad stuff, let’s get to the good stuff!  If I remember correctly, around 25 weeks is when we started making progress on baby boy’s nursery, buying and Read more […]

ARGGHHHH.  I’ve tried to write about The Wee One’s most recent nap transition for weeks now!  But since it’s always changing and it’s not the most exciting topic, I’ve pushed it off.  Well, no more.  I really want to have this post to look back on when my next kiddo reaches the same transition, so bear with me.  I will be posting random cute photos in attempts to hold your interest. 🙂 For some reason The Wee One loves watching our vacuum.  He likes to follow The Scottish around and stand Read more […]

Repeat, Not Again, and Try New for Baby #2

Posted by & filed under baby updates, Motherhood, The Scottish, The Wee One.

So I’ve heard two major themes about having a second child.  One is that your life is complete chaos at the beginning and two, that it’s actually not that bad.  Or rather, its not as tough as going from zero children to one.  It makes sense because zero to one kid is a bigger life change than one to two kids but I guess I will have to wait and find out. When your second (or third, or fourth) child enters the world, you are a more confident parent, and you have figured out what works for you Read more […]

BOY!!!  Yep, we’re having another sweet baby boy and we’re so very happy.  It’s the first time we’ll have brothers in many generations on my side and brothers aren’t very common on The Scottish’s side either. I have to admit I thought I was having a girl (silly pregnancy dreams and obviously wrong instincts) and I was looking forward to buying girly clothes and experiencing something new, but really, every child is so different, it’s ALWAYS new.  When I look at The Wee One, I know Read more […]

This post is going to be very personal and very cathartic for me, and to be honest, probably a little dramatic too.  I definitely have more feelings on the subject of breastfeeding than I can articulate into words but I’m going to do my best to recap things, for myself so I can look back on this in years to come, and for those of you with interest in breastfeeding and weaning. First, some notes.  (And a catch-up for anyone new-ish to DH, hello!) All photos taken this week by The Scottish. Timeline Read more […]

I Have an Announcement to Make

I’m pregnant!!  Yay!!  The Wee One will be 19 and a half months old when his sibling arrives, hence, the 2 kids are under 2 years of age social media announcement.  As I’ve told people in person, I usually start by saying, “I have some news”  And before I can finish, they’ve interrupted me with, “Are you pregnant?”  Yep. It was a slight surprise to us as my cycle was being wonky from breastfeeding and I couldn’t chart but it was the BEST surprise really.  I told The Scottish I didn’t Read more […]
