I LOVE reading “day in the life” posts from other bloggers and I keep meaning to write my own. Well, this week I finally got around to it.  This particular day we did not have a play date but on average we usually see our friends about three days a week. (My apologies for the lack of photos, I kept forgetting to take them!) 5:37 AM: The Wee One wakes up crying, loudly. The Scottish and I both wake up slowly, groaning when we see the time.  This is one of those crazy early days I guess! Read more […]

Pacifier Weaning

It’s not fair, I know, but the truth is pacifier weaning was easy for us.  Maybe it’s all the horror stories people tell or the fact that doctors warn you a pacifier can affect your child’s teeth placement, but whatever the reason, we were dreading it and ended up happily surprised. Background Info After The Wee One was born we waited 4 weeks to start using pacifiers (or dummies for our UK crowd) to avoid nipple confusion (although I bet we could have started earlier and I’m sure it would Read more […]

12 Month Photo Shoot Starring The Wee One

ONE! (6 of 101) ONE! (6 of 101)

Guys, I am so in LOVE with these photos and I’m so excited to share them with you today.  Truthfully, it was a stretch for us to find room in our budget for professional photographs this summer.  Summer time gets so expensive, doesn’t it?  But I will treasure these memories forever and I do not regret taking them at all.  While The Scottish has done a great job with our previous month photo shoots, i wanted all three of us together for a change! Plus, we absolutely love working with our Read more […]

My Emotional Mini-Me

annoyed face annoyed face

The thing about being a parent is you suddenly have this person-sized mirror in which to see yourself through and often times you see traits in them that remind you of yourself, both the good and not-so-good ones. The Wee One is a passionate guy.  That is what I always say anyway.  Sure, he is a normal toddler (that feels weird to write, my baby is a toddler!) whose lack of verbal skills and coping mechanisms make it hard for him to control his feelings. It’s completely normal for him to Read more […]

The Wee One: Twelve Months

DSC09130 DSC09130

This isn’t going to be a typical month update post.  I’m going to free flow the format and say what’s on my mind.  There won’t be any 12 month sticker photos because we decided to skip our DIY photo shoot in lieu of the professional photo session we had with our photographer Annie.  (PS: I can’t wait to post those pics!) First, the current struggle in our life.  The Wee One has always been a pretty good and consistent sleeper, and don’t get me wrong, we are grateful for those hours between Read more […]

The Wee One: First Birthday Party!

Hi friends! We had The Wee One’s party last weekend and it was a whirlwind of fun.  Everyone said they had a great time which makes me so happy.  I planned ahead and spent quite a bit of time crafting the decorations, setting the menu, and even buying favors for all the kiddo guests.  We had balloons, cupcakes, and tons of food.  The party was from 11-1 PM, right in between The Wee One’s two naps.  I figured since I always have more food than I really need when I host I might as well plan Read more […]

(Not Very Much) Sleeping Outside: Adventures in Camping

So I promised I’d update on how camping went down this year… and here it is. I’ve come to the conclusion that sleeping outside for fun is just plain stupid!  There is no toilet nearby, no kitchen, no night lights, nor a way to control the temperature.  There is an excessive amount of NOISE from other campers and wildlife and that wildlife includes bugs, bears, and raccoons.  It’s always damp when you wake up even if it hasn’t rained and if it storms, oh if it storms, you convince yourself Read more […]

The Wee One: Eleven Months

Wow, The Wee One is becoming such a BIG BOY.  Although he seems to be growing up and less out as he weighs the same as last month (based on our crude scale anyway).  We’ve also received comments that he is thinning out or that his face looks thinner, which has to be because he is constantly moving!  It definitely isn’t because he’s eating less, haha. The Wee One LOVES pointing at things and he’s started waving to people.  He also “gives hugs” which means he lays his head down on Read more […]

The Wee One: Ten Months

Well, he did it.  The Wee One is officially crawling!!  🙂  For whatever reason he took the plunge right after Daddy left for work on Friday May 8th. After it happened once I quickly grabbed my phone to capture it on video.  (Please excuse my proud mom gushing.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4_aoFuvEvs&feature=youtu.be His coordination was shaky at first but now he is a man with a mission.  His favorite things to touch are the sharp grates and the blinds (of course).  And if Read more […]

The Wee One: Nine Months

The Wee One is 9 months old today and cuter than ever!  Right now, he’s all about the verbal skills and communicating with us.  He chatters away non-stop and we are starting to hear consonants and things that sound like words in his babbling.  He’s also started using sign language!  We’ve been signing a few words to him for about three months now and he has picked up on “more” and “milk.”  He cracks us up when signing “milk” because he tends to use it for everything. The Wee One is also eating Read more […]
