Hi everybody!  Oh, I have missed you guys and this space.  We’ve been going non-stop recently because this past weekend we were in Chicago and this past week my nanny kiddos stayed with us.  But my crazy summer of travel, guests, and 3 (yes THREE) weddings in a row has passed and I’m looking forward to a slightly slower pace for the next few weeks. This also means more time for blogging!  I have so many topics I want to share, I just need the time to sit down and write. So what is my Read more […]

My Mother-in-law and Father-in-law or as we now call them on the blog, Grandpa and Grandma Scottish are coming to Minnesota for a two-week visit!!  YAY!!  We are beyond excited.  The Scottish is taking days off from work and this guy can’t wait to see his other set of grandparents. Geez, he looks SO grown up sometimes!  I think I’ll call that his salmon shirt, just like Ross on Friends.  🙂 My in-laws want to spend the majority of their time playing with The Wee One, taking him Read more […]

How To Achieve Blogger Fame

Posted by & filed under All About Me, Blogging, Humor, The Dramatic Arts.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the world of blogging lately, and I’ve been doing a bit of soul-searching in regards to my goals with Drama Happens.  Recently I’ve been reading blog posts about how blogging might be a dying trend.  WHAT??? This hypothesis is depressing but also valid in a world of Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram. Short snippets and photos seem to be the easier and preferred form of communication these days, and it’s evident that attention spans are shortening.  Are people still Read more […]

Are You a Jerk or a Sweetheart?

I was half watching this show the other day about random life facts when something grabbed my attention.  They were explaining how to tell if you’re a jerk or a sweetheart.  Well, I thought, I must find out!! First sign you’re a jerk?  You don’t think it’s AT ALL possible that you are one.  I was already doing well because it was something I had to contemplate for a minute.  Phew! A jerk is someone who kisses up to those above them (on the work or social life ladder) and looks down on Read more […]

This is one of those blogging prompt posts that someone I follow recently did, and I thought it was a fun read.  Here is a small slice of my life right now, hope you enjoy. Making : Phone-date plans to connect up with a faraway friend. Cooking : Tonight on the menu is (store-bought) breaded tilapia and rice. Drinking : Starbucks vanilla latte from the grocery store.  It’s not quite as good as the original but it works. Reading: Just finished Amy Poehler’s Yes Please.  I want to say I loved Read more […]

Guess what?  I have a recipe to share today.  I know what you’re all thinking, “But you hate cooking Stephanie!”  You would be correct!  For the most part I am basic cook who does what she has to feed her family.  Nothing fancy over here folks.  And I certainly don’t spend hours on one meal or take artistic photographs of my food to share on my blog. Well, all that changes today.  And while this may never happen again and my recipe series may die a fast and painless death after this post, Read more […]

Hello lovely readers!  Did you notice my absence yesterday?  I was not able to post as scheduled on Monday because I had a busy week, a busier weekend, and not enough time to prepare a quality blog post.  Technically, this minor change shouldn’t warrant an apology but to those loyal readers out there, I am sorry.  I like to be reliable! Blogging on a regular schedule has always been good for me, both mentally and emotionally.  It helps me stay connected to Drama Happens and to my readers. Read more […]

Hi friends!!!  How is everyone doing?  It feels like I’ve been away for decades but it’s only been a week. Bizarre right?  So much has happened that I have no idea where to start.  Bullet points seem like a concise way to share my update, and they’re about all the writing energy I can muster.  I’m currently feeling those depressive Sunday Night Blues and now that the holiday season is over, I want to hibernate until spring.  What is the point of life without friends and family parties and Read more […]

I want to share a quick story about a blogger friend of mine. This blogger friend is named Kelly and she writes at  When I first started my blog, Drama Happens, I wasn’t sure what I was doing and how I wanted my voice to sound.  Since no one close to me (in real life) is a blogger I had no one to ask for advice and I felt like a lonely fish wading around in a sea of AMAZING writers.  How could I ever keep up?  How could I make myself stand out from the rest?  Without Read more […]

Remember on Friday when I said I had news to share this week?  Well, we have a roommate! My cousin (known as Jo here on DH) has moved into the “princess” room in our basement.  I guess we can’t call it that now as all the princess decals have been removed, but it’s still pink and purple. Of course it will be a big adjustment for all of us but family helps each other out when they need it and we were happy to welcome her into our home.  Cousin Jo will be job hunting in the Twin Cities Read more […]
