DramaLite: Pregnant Lady Down

Does anyone remember the DramaLite series I started many moons ago?   I know, I barely do too, but it was a series of posts that all shared something embarrassing about me. I find it’s really important to be able to laugh at yourself, and being a klutz, I have many opportunities to do so. Let me set the scene.  I’m out to lunch with a fellow mama friend and her daughter.  We are at a restaurant in the Mall of America.  We are sitting in a booth.  The kiddos have booster seats on the inside Read more […]

Camping August 2010 080 Camping August 2010 080

When I first moved to Chicago after college I was the head counselor/leader of a teen camp in the summers for a park district outside the city.  I was still my dorky self but I liked to think some of those kids thought I was kind of cool. Six months or so later I had a new job in Chicago as a nanny.  I had to take the blue line train everyday into downtown for work.  At that same time I was also in a show in the evenings with a theater company in the suburbs.  I barely had enough time to take Read more […]

DramaLite: “Babysitter of the Year”

what what

It’s been forever since I’ve shared a DramaLite on the blog so I wanted to remedy that.  Unfortunately this story airs on side of being drama HEAVY and still causes me to shudder and tremble with fear and anxiety.  Have I got your attention?  Good.  Settle in, its story time folks. When I was interviewing to become a nanny I was offered two positions, the one I ended up taking and before that another one for a young couple with a three-month old girl who lived in a condo in Lincoln Park. DramaLite: Adult Moving Fail

Posted by & filed under All About Me, Blushworthy, DramaLite, Humor, The Scottish.

I realized I never recapped our big state-wide move from Kansas to Minnesota for you all!  In three words, it was easy, long, and cold. The movers showed up on time and we had an easy drive, but we had to go slow because the UHaul truck can only go about 70 miles per hour before it starts shaking.  When we arrived, the temps were way below zero but with help of our awesome family we filled our 5 x 10 storage unit and went back to my parent’s house for chili dinner.  I can’t complain! But this Read more […]

So yea, this happened, like yesterday. The Scottish and I were going to the Kansas City Zoo once last time before we moved to Minnesota and as we were exiting the parking lot to get to the front entrance we were trudging through snow and walking over the boulevard. Stepping onto the street, I misjudged how deep the snow was and sent my right foot down a black hole of death (otherwise known as an open grate or drain.)  Losing my balance I fell smack down to the concrete, breaking my fall with Read more […]

DramaLite: High School Puke

Posted by & filed under All About Me, Blushworthy, DramaLite, Humor.

I feel like it’s been FOREVER since I’ve posted a DramaLite so I have an especially embarrassing one to share today. First the back story: I am deathly afraid of vomit.  It’s not that I’m one of those people who throw up if they’re around someone who pukes, it’s that I hyperventilate and have a mild panic attack.  I find I’m most terrified when I’m in a small enclosed space and someone needs to throw up.  Most of the time, no one is actually going throw up BUT I have been in a van with a bunch Read more […]

Thongs really became THE popular underwear for girls when I was in high school.  You weren’t cool unless you were wearing thongs. Never mind that our Dad had to do our laundry most of the time, The Sister and I bought copious amounts of them when we were younger. One day (either in my sophomore or junior year) I was wearing this rather short dress to school with none other than a thong underneath it and some sheer pantyhose (Oh pantyhose, how uncool you really are).  Apparently when I put Read more […]

4th of July trip to Minnesota, wedding stuff 004 4th of July trip to Minnesota, wedding stuff 004

Towards the end of my college career, my then boyfriend and I had this couple we would go on double-dates with and the guy was from Australia.  Often times over dinner we would discuss how they were being pressured to get married because his visa was expiring and his job wasn’t able to offer him a new one at that time. One night I naively suggested, “Well, can’t you just switch to a MasterCard?” I legitimately thought entering this country was a process tied to actual credit cards.  HOW EMBARRASSING!! Ironic Read more […]

LLLL Shower Weekend 013 LLLL Shower Weekend 013

The Mother told me she was looking into fostering or adopting another child and when I found out I got really upset and told her I didn’t want to share her with any other siblings.  Two was enough. Yikes, crazy first-born.  Old enough to know better but young enough to be that selfish.     The reason The Mother never ended up fostering or adopting was because she got too busy volunteering at her church and felt like she wasn’t home enough to raise another kid.  It had Read more […]
