Pic heavy post for your viewing pleasure in 3,2,1… The theme was rockets!  The Mother made these adorable fruit kebabs in the shape of rockets and The Sister planned a bunch of awesome games for the kids to play.  We tried to keep the party low-key, inviting mostly family and a few friends, and The Wee Two (and his big brother) had a wonderful time. The Wee Two got to have his second attempt at a smash cake (his first time took place during Read more […]

We had such a nice four-day holiday weekend that going back to regularly scheduled life programming has been a little tough for me. A Monday that started off normally was made worse by an epic toddler tantrum post-nap.  The Wee One’s meltdowns are completely typical behavior for his age but it’s still frustrating.  It must be so difficult for him to want something but be unable to communicate what that is, and now that we’ve taught him “please” and “thank you” in sign language I’m pretty sure Read more […]

My Little Brother is Married!

first look first look

The Glue married his love, The Tape, this past Friday in a beautiful ceremony at Centennial Lakes Park here in the Twin Cities.  The happy couple is off on their honeymoon, a two-week road trip to Portland and all the stress of wedding planning is over.  Yay!  Isn’t the last week always the craziest? I was in charge of their timeline as well as day of coordination, The Scottish was an usher, and The Sister and The BIL did all the music and technology pieces for the ceremony and reception.  The Read more […]

This past weekend The Mother, The Sister, and I threw a picnic themed shower for my brother and his fiancé.  We called it a wedding shower (instead of the traditional bridal shower) because we wanted to invite both men and women, we are on the groom’s side after all!  Overall it was a great success and now my brother knows just how awkward it is to open gifts in front of people!  🙂 We did a great job making it a family and guy friendly event if I do say so myself, and here’s how: 1) Read more […]

I’m terrible at making obnoxious abbreviations for words and I’m constantly asking The Glue if they work or not.  I’m pretty sure I was OK’d to say “tradish” instead of tradition.  Do you kind of hate it?  Me too.  Let’s continue. I look forward to family traditions year after year.  Growing up we had quite a few around the holidays.  One of my favorites was picking out our real (always had to be real according to The Mother) tree from the grocery store parking lot the day we drove home Read more […]

I’m over the moon excited to announce that my little brother is getting married!!  🙂  🙂  He found a really AMAZING girl (who is known around these parts as The Tape) and we’re thrilled that she will be officially joining our family sometime next year The proposal went down last Saturday evening after they attended a play with one of her nieces.  The Glue took her to a special outdoor location underneath a band canopy where her family had set up some candles, he played a song on his guitar, Read more […]

The Wee One is a special guy.  I know it.  The Scottish knows it.  But even better, our whole extended family knows it!  The Wee One has been so lucky to have met so many of his extended family in the first few weeks of life. I want to remember these moments.  I want them saved on my blog because in my life, there is nothing more important than family.  It’s cliché but true, they make the good parts of life better and the bad parts of life easier.  In our family, we laugh… a lot.  We Read more […]

HELLO FRIENDS, GUESS WHAT? I SURVIVED CAMPING, IT WASN’T SO BAD, AND LIFE IS GOOD, NO WAIT, LIFE IS GREAT! OK, I’m done yelling and my apologies because my title is misleading as I didn’t cry much on the trip, but it made me laugh so it stays! I am downright jovial about the fact that I’m done traveling (and moving) and that we’re at the point where we can just wait for baby boy to make his arrival.  I am lucky because camping went so well and was overall uneventful, which is definitely Read more […]

First off, I want to thank you all for your kind words after Monday’s post (even if you didn’t comment but you thought kind words, I’m still thanking you!), it made me feel so much better and a lot less cuckoo crazy.  🙂 The Scottish and I are slowly accomplishing things on our to-do list and I know we’ll get to a comfortable point soon.  We’re looking forward to a three-day weekend of house projects because there just aren’t enough hours in the day.  Next weekend is my MN shower and we’ll Read more […]

Easter this year was amazing!  And weird but mostly amazing.  We definitely missed being with our extended family in North Dakota but when no one’s spring break lined up with Easter this year, we knew we’d be spending it in Minnesota.  With each of us kids having significant others, our immediate family’s grand total comes to 8 people plus two dogs.  Oh and a baby bump of course.  🙂 The Mother decided a sleepover was in order and everyone stayed at their house the day before Easter because Read more […]
