Hey guys!  It’s been a while hasn’t it??  🙂 I figured I should probably check in on my small slice of the internet and make sure it’s doing OK.  Looks a bit dusty around here and sounds pretty quiet but all is well! Here’s hoping all is well with you guys too! Unfortunately, this isn’t going to be a rejuvenating post filled with ambitious plans to start back up with more frequent blogging. The time has come, and it finally feels right to close this chapter of my life, at least Read more […]

You know how you spend weeks making a costume for your two-year old and then they don’t want to wear it?  Me neither.  Mostly because I didn’t make the costume, The Scottish did, hehe.  But I did drag the costume to music class only for him to tell me, “No thank you, no thank you” over and over again. I get it.  It’s a bit awkward and scary to wear a box but seriously he LOVES it.  He pushes it around the house and talks about how it’s HIS train. What am I talking about?  The Wee One’s Read more […]

A House Divided

It’s football season and that’s a big deal in our household.  It makes sense that I’m a Vikings fan since I grew up in Minnesota and it makes sense that The Scottish is a Bears fan because when he first came to the US he lived in Chicago.  It doesn’t matter how long he lives here either, The Scottish will always be a Bears because you do not desert your team! For now we’re teaching the boys to say “Go Vikings!” AND “Go Bears!”  But I’m curious to see if they’ll always root for both teams or Read more […]

Destroy-it-Yourself: Staining the Patio

Waaaay back in May when my in-laws were here The Scottish and my FIL stained our backyard patio.  We completely lucked out that the semi-transparent stain we picked matched the color of our house exactly.  I’d call it a burnt orange and while I don’t particularly like the color of our house very much, I do like when things match! This was a pretty fast project but still took the better part of a day because they had to wait for the wood to dry multiple times.  I won’t pretend anyone needs Read more […]

The Wee Two: Five Months

How am I so behind on The Wee Two’s monthly updates??  Oh right, summer, life, and two kids. My baby turned 5 months old on August 3rd and the next day we left town on his first road trip to Chicago.  The Wee Two is growing crazy fast and even though he is still sleeping in 3 hour chunks, The Scottish and I have been doing a lot better with the lack of sleep in our lives.  Unfortunately, you might say we’ve gotten used to it. An update on the Zantac, it worked for the first couple of days Read more […]

These Are The Years…

These are the years… of going to bed at 8:30 PM because we’re so crazy exhausted. of rarely being alone together. of nothing in the house for lunch but sandwich bread heels and old fruit. Just enough to keep everyone fed. of wearing the same stained shirts and ripped jeans because any extra money goes to clothing for the boys. of calling each other Mommy and Daddy. of eating out less.  Oh, how we miss eating out. of watching Netflix together instead of talking or connecting Read more […]

The Wee Two: Four Months

My baby turned 4 months old on July 3rd!  Full disclosure, it’s been rough over here.  I thought The Wee Two’s sleep was bad before, haha, guess what?  It can always get worse. My sweet boy’s night wakings are out of control.  The Scottish and I have passed sleep deprivation and rounded the corner into sleep torture.  Immediately after The Wee Two hit 3 months old he began waking up a ton at night. I don’t mean every few hours, I mean every 30-40 minutes some nights.  He’d often wake up Read more […]

I know, I know, this update is super late but better late than never.  We had a fantastic time while The Scottish’s parents were in town, and we got to show them more of what the Twin Cities has to offer.  I love Minneapolis and St. Paul and each time they visit I get more ideas of places to visit and things to do.  We are already excited for next May!  🙂 This post is going to be extremely photo-heavy and perhaps not super interesting to most of you readers.  But for our family it’s a Read more […]

Yes, this again.  THIS meaning another post about me falling off the blogosphere for a while.  Hey, it happens! I promise I have a good excuse.  My in-laws are coming from Scotland for three whole weeks!  It’s very exciting but it means I’m going to be even busier.  I’m so pumped they get to meet The Wee Two for the first time and see The Wee One again now that he’s walking and talking.  The last time they saw him he was 10 months old and newly crawling. Despite how badly we want to Read more […]

The Wee Two: Two Months

The Wee Two turned two months old on May 3rd.  To be honest, it’s been a lot of the same newborn stuff with the added pleasure of more smiles and alertness.  The Wee Two is focusing more on faces and objects which has been really fun.  I can’t wait to see more of his personality shine through! We’ve started giving The Wee Two a bottle regularly but by regularly I mean mostly on the weekends because it’s difficult managing The Scottish feeding him while I pump, The Wee One running around, Read more […]
