Pic heavy post for your viewing pleasure in 3,2,1… The theme was rockets!  The Mother made these adorable fruit kebabs in the shape of rockets and The Sister planned a bunch of awesome games for the kids to play.  We tried to keep the party low-key, inviting mostly family and a few friends, and The Wee Two (and his big brother) had a wonderful time. The Wee Two got to have his second attempt at a smash cake (his first time took place during Read more […]

Hi Everyone, I’m Still Here and Have Lots to Say!

I’m going to be real with you guys.  I miss this space.  I miss the freedom to write about whatever, over-share on details, and post a billion pictures of my boys.  It feels weird to let Drama Happens get so quiet but it’s been the right choice for me.  I’ve been blogging at Hellobee pretty regularly which has been really fun, rewarding, and sometimes challenging but in a positive way.  I’m also struggling to find the energy to write more than an update or two a month because I’m so tired and Read more […]

A House Divided

It’s football season and that’s a big deal in our household.  It makes sense that I’m a Vikings fan since I grew up in Minnesota and it makes sense that The Scottish is a Bears fan because when he first came to the US he lived in Chicago.  It doesn’t matter how long he lives here either, The Scottish will always be a Bears because you do not desert your team! For now we’re teaching the boys to say “Go Vikings!” AND “Go Bears!”  But I’m curious to see if they’ll always root for both teams or Read more […]

Call Me Mrs. Cookie!

Posted by & filed under All About Me, Blogging, Wee Ones.

Hi everybody! Popping in to share some happy news, I was recently accepted to be a contributing blogger for the parenting website, Hellobee! The sweets generation just came out and I was pumped to get my first choice of Mrs.Cookie!  Is there anything tastier than a classic chocolate chip cookie?? Some of my content will be similar to posts on DH but most of it will be brand new.  I’m very excited to be joining another group of talented bloggers and if you’re a fellow parent and have not Read more […]

These Are The Years…

Posted by & filed under All About Me, Heartstrings, Marriage, Motherhood, Partnerships, Relationships General, The Scottish, Wee Ones.

These are the years… of going to bed at 8:30 PM because we’re so crazy exhausted. of rarely being alone together. of nothing in the house for lunch but sandwich bread heels and old fruit. Just enough to keep everyone fed. of wearing the same stained shirts and ripped jeans because any extra money goes to clothing for the boys. of calling each other Mommy and Daddy. of eating out less.  Oh, how we miss eating out. of watching Netflix together instead of talking or connecting Read more […]

Hi friends, how is everyone doing?  We had a wonderful time with The Scottish’s parents the past few weeks and I will share more when I do a photo-filled blog post of their visit. I also need to write The Wee Two’s three month update.  Can you believe it’s already the middle of June!?! But first I have some musings to sort through. Being a parent is hard. OK, duh, right?  A lot of it is frustrating or terrible (up at night with a baby, toddler tantrums) but most of it is sheer bliss.  And Read more […]

The Wee One sported two different looks this year for two reasons, 1) it’s fun and 2) he needed a costume to wear to his party with his fellow toddler friends because his other one didn’t make sense without The Cuz Man. First up, introducing Dr. Wee One. I was able to snap a few photos of him before he headed into post-op to meet with a patient.  He’s a very busy man you know. The Wee One loved wearing his stethoscope, which we all thought he would get annoyed with but no, he he wore Read more […]

BOY!!!  Yep, we’re having another sweet baby boy and we’re so very happy.  It’s the first time we’ll have brothers in many generations on my side and brothers aren’t very common on The Scottish’s side either. I have to admit I thought I was having a girl (silly pregnancy dreams and obviously wrong instincts) and I was looking forward to buying girly clothes and experiencing something new, but really, every child is so different, it’s ALWAYS new.  When I look at The Wee One, I know Read more […]

What Men and Women Think About When They Find Out They’re Expecting, Again

pregnancy test baby #2 pregnancy test baby #2

These stream of consciousness thoughts are based on my memory and in no particular order because well, sometimes they came so fast, there was no order! To paint a picture, I had just taken a pregnancy test around 6 AM and ran into the bedroom to show The Scottish… Stephanie’s Initial Thoughts: I’M PREGNANT, EEEEEEEE!!! I literally can’t believe it, we’re going to have another baby! This is so exciting, I can’t wait to meet them, we’re gonna have another baby!! Oh my word, Read more […]

Only Slightly Less Miserable: A Tale of a Birth

Time to talk about BIRTH.  My nephew (The Cuz Man) was born on February 3rd at 7:26 AM to The Sister and The BIL.  He weighted 8 lbs 8 ounces and was 19.75 inches long.  I got to watch some of the labor and ALL of the delivery.  My goal was to wait until I could formulate something poetic and poignant regarding the experience, but it turns out that’s nearly impossible.  Watching someone push a tiny person from their body encompasses too many things and cannot be squished down into a tiny, Read more […]
